Restart Kits provide items to set up homes for newly arriving refugees.

Most refugees arrive in the United States with next to nothing, but you can help them rebuild their lives by putting together a Restart Kit. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends, work teams or small groups to build a kit together. See below for a complete shopping list of Restart Kits needed & instructions for putting them together.

Restart Kit Instructions

  • Please purchase new items. The hope is that these kits will bring honor to refugees coming to Salem and reflect their dignity.

  • Place the items in a clear plastic tub that can close, and label the top of the container with the Restart Kit name.

  • Include a hand-written, unsealed note welcoming the family.

  • Kit must be complete. We are not able to accept individual items from kits.

  • Tape larger items to top of kit if they don’t fit inside.

  • When your kit(s) are completed, contact the Donations Coordinator, Marie Howard, to arrange a time to drop them off: info@salemforrefugees.org
